Braun Neue is a complete reworking and rationalisation of the hand-etched letterforms found on Adolphe Braun's photographic journal 'Gotthardbahn' (Views of Switzerland) c.1875. The book features 74 mounted prints of various places and objects of interests during the construction of and along the Gotthard Railroad and was one in a series of works from Braun showcasing the Swiss alpine landscapes. Intended for use as a caption typeface, the letterforms are utilitarian in nature yet shows nuances of flare and decoration through some of the curved letterforms.
